I am a longtime Windows user who wants to get more into Linux. I am currently running Mandrake 8.1 in a VMware virtual machine under Windows XP pro. I liked Mandrake because it seemed more up-to-date than other distros. However, I am really attracted to the tight dependency tracking of the Debian distros and the apt-get facility. Can anyone recommend a good Debian distro for a Linux newbie? Thank you in advance, Curt Hibbs
