I finished reading your FAQ and the last item gave me an idea. Before 
copying the PB template, I modified the tmpl_pb_based PB file in 
ProjectBuilder and added the -ldl to link options, saved it, then copied 
it as "RubyCocoa Application" as per the FAQ.

Creating a new RubyCocoa Application in PB now has the -ldl as the 
default. I modified the Makefile.tmpl as well.

I will do more experimenting to see if this libdl causes any other 
problems.
