I imagine such a language would quickly split apart into two or more "dialects", roughly equivalent to Ruby and Python :-) Besides, one of the nice things about having all these languages around is that there's no reason to occupy a middle ground. One can use tools that one is close to 100% enthusiastic about. Musical instruments provide a good analogy. The cello and the viola da gamba have a lot in common. But as a cellist, I would not want to have to play an instrument that combined -- or selected from -- the qualities of both the cello and the viola da gamba.
