I cannnot reproduce bug. Could you show me your code snip?
My environment is:

  linux 2.2.14
  qmail 1.0.3
  ruby 1.6.6 (.tar.gz, got from ftp.ruby-lang.org)
  net/smtp 1.1.37 (bundled with ruby 1.6.6)

test script:

    require 'net/smtp'
    Net::SMTP.start( 'localhost', 25 ) {|smtp|
        smtp.ready( 'aamine', 'aamine@************' ) {|f|
