If this message appears on the ML, then the problem was due to an
incompatibility with the 1.6.6 net/smtp library. Code that worked fine
previously seemed not to send mail under 1.6.6: I changed the code to
use a different style of sending (#send_mail, rather than #ready) and
it seemed to start sending correctly again.

The worrying thing is that it seems to have been failing
silently. Anyone using the library to send e-mail might want to check
it still works if you upgrade Ruby.
