Subject: [ruby-talk:29381] x.dll versus x.lib in mswin32 ruby


I've built mswin32 ruby and now I'm trying to build ruby/gtk.  When I run
extconf.rb I get an error saying it can't find a routine in a library, even
though I have a dll with that entry point in the path.  It appears that
mkmf.rb is looking for x.lib instead of x.dll:

def append_library(libs, lib)
  if /mswin32/ =~ RUBY_PLATFORM
    lib + ".lib " + libs
  else
    "-l" + lib + " " + libs
  end
end

Does this mean that I cannot use DLL's in mswin32 Ruby?  This doesn't make
any sense.
