Why not do a Ruby implementation of ANT (http://jakarta.apache.org/ant/)? Beside being an emerging open standard that uses XML, the specification is already in place, and you could jumpstart the implementation by porting the Java implementation to Ruby. ------------------------ Ant is interesting, sure. There are ideas to grab from there. I would even think that it should be possible, once we have the make replacement system (btw. I think that 'rubuild' would be a good name for it, what do you think?), it should be possible to "interpret" a Ant build.xml file. But I don't have interest right now in it, maybe as a second step, or if anyone is willing to add that, he would be welcome. -----Original Message----- From: Curt Hibbs [mailto:curt@hibbs.com] In any case, something like this would be welcome add-in to the FreeRIDE (Ruby IDE) project. See http://www.rubygarden.org/ruby?FreeRIDE. ------------------------ Speaking of IDE, I played with SlickEdit lately. It's a great software, unfortunately they don't support Ruby (yet). You may want to have a look at it to gather some interesting ideas. -- Christian
