this is rigth. everybody has his own preferences and some may like ruby
and some may not like it.

I can just tell you about me.
I know several languages (C, Java, Python, Perl, C++ , Ruby and some PHP)

I use C/C++ and sometimes Perl at work but at home I use
mostly Ruby (and Python).

with Ruby (and Python) I am much more effective than with C/C++ or
Java and the code is much cleaner than with Perl or PHP.

For me Ruby is really fun and one of the main reasons why programming is not
only a job but also a hobby.

and you got a very friendly ruby community.

IMHO, you should  definitely give ruby try.
