returns

=> [["o", "e"], ["c", "r", "y"]]

irb(main):006:0> "corey haines".split(//).partition { |x| "aeiouAEIOU"[x] }
=> [["o", "e", "a", "i", "e"], ["c", "r", "y", " ", "h", "n", "s"]]

you might want to skip spaces
