I'm a slower reader than you (and possibly less observant) and have only posted 5 so far. It is foolish to expect perfection in the first edition. A book is a human endeavour and like software gets better with each iteration. You will note that Ruby is on version 1.7.* looking forward to 1.8. If Matz had to design a language to the same standard as you expect him to write books you would turn your nose up at it. 1.8! How many revisions has that gone through. Some people saw the promise in earlier versions of Ruby and overlooked its faults. A bit more respect for Matz is due than this.
