XFree86 4. I did set XFREE86_VERSION=4 in /etc/make.conf and
re-installed Mesa afterwards.

All programs using OpenGL on this machine need to pass -pthread to the
linker in order to run. That is fine with me. The question is: How may
I do so for a library such as ruby-opengl so that every script using
it might work? Or is it ruby itself that needs to be compiled with
"-pthread"? Should its FreeBSD port therefore honor XFREE_VERSION from
/etc/make.conf? It might, but right from the top of my head I would
not know how to actually implement that.
