However, as Tobias said, it's a little hard to know what exceptions we should be raising/expecting, because there seems to be no real documentation as to when they are raised or what data they contain (one could obviously use reflection to work that out, but that seems a bit messy, especially since all that tells you is their names, not what they're intended purpose is). > SystemCallError is just a super class of all system call exceptions. Yes, I gathered that from looking at the pickaxe book. However, is there any documentation that lists which subclasses exist and under what circumstances they are raised? For example, when YOU write code, how do you work out what exceptions to write rescue clauses for? Do you have an approach you take to work it out, or just a good memory :-) ??
