hi all-

just a quick note to say that cameron mcbride has graciously set up a  
rubyforge project to host the new sciruby mailing list.  the sciruby  
mailing list will be a place to discuss scientific programming with  
the ruby language.  questions like

   "how do i open up a netcdf in ruby?"

   "how do i compile opendap into the netcdf lib?"

   "how do i setup ssh-grid on a solaris cluster?"

   "how do i parse a gff3-formatted file?"

can be asked without fear of being lost in the wide world of ruby-talk.

the sciruby wiki will have more information soon but, until then,
