What about the Standard Widget Toolkit SWT and Ruby?

(interesting point is that they do not use GC for resource handling)

I know little about it, but it looks like they made some of the same design
choices as Fox / FxRuby, in that they seemlessly blend build-in platform
widgets with custom drawn widgets where there is no native support.

I'm not the one to say that the great work of Lyle Johnson should just be
binned (and it won't in any case), but using Eclipse makes the question of
Ruby SWT support unavoidable - or not?
