opinions.  I am not trying to convince anyone who doesn't want to be

Now:

I just want to ask participants in this newsgroup/mailing list
to kindly remember to put quoted material *first* when responding
to another message.

The alternative -- putting your response first, with the quoted
message below (also known as "Jeopardy-style", because it's
answer-before-question :) -- is somewhat more cumbersome to follow.
