I think if anyone who has a particular module they think would be useful can articulate well why it would be wonderful to have, that might be sufficient motivation for someone else to port/re-write it in ruby. What I'm getting at is that I may not see a need for something simply because I've never thought about it. If someone explains why they've found some perl/python/whatever module useful, that might fire up someone who just hasn't seen such a module before (or who hasn't understood why it is fantastically useful). I agree with the limited amounts of time. That's why it would be a good idea for people to make a note maybe to the newsgroup when they decide to take one of these on, so there's no duplication.
