Raul,
I tried this, but I got the following error in step 2:
# ruby extconf.rb
extconf.rb:1:in `require': no such file to load -- mkmf (LoadError)
        from extconf.rb:1

The error is from the require 'mkmf' line in the extconf.rb script.  How 
can I find out what that is and where to get it?
