When you exceed your bandwidth limit, most hosting companies will charge you for the extra bandwidth -- but they don't cut you off (a sure way to alienate customers). If your site's traffic starts to consistently approach the limit then that's the time to upgrade your account. Some hosts provide unlimited bandwidth. At first blush this might sound appealing, but it usually means that you can count a mediocre or poor performance as this is the type of host that will over-commit their available bandwidth -- you get what you pay for. If it's the latter, how would they be able to tell that? And what, if any, effect would that have on something like a Ruby app server? What I mean is, suppose your site gets hit for 30GB of transfer one month, but you only paid for 20; do they just stop traffic to your box, automatically bill you more, what? Any clues would be helpful. Thanks. Curt Hibbs wrote: > [ruby-talk:27776] Re: web hosting > I used to be with iserver before verio bought them.
