Subject: [ruby-talk:27717] component-based development in ruby

i was originally planning to develop in python, but since ruby 
is also nice, why not? what i am currently looking for is a 
lightweight component framework. ruby-specific is okay, since i 
am not targetting multiple languages. but cross platform is a 
must, so i cannot use COM.

i know XPCOM has their ruby bindings (and perhaps CORBA support 
already exists too?), but what i am looking for is a simpler and 
more straightforward framework. it should support:

- instantiating component by interface name (i.e.: search for 
components which have the interfaces i want);
- creating remote component instance;
- some security mechanism;
- (optional) transactional operations;

but need not (shouldn't) have these features:

- binary database/tree format registry database (i prefer using 
the good'ol filesystem);

is there such a beast in ruby?
