For those of you interested in the reply, I'm sorry; I got this via email 
first, and responded privately.

Basically, though, I said that it wasn't a problem, and Ruby's UTF-8 
support was sufficient to handle UTF-8 sources, and the UTF-16 support I 
got by adding Ernest Ellingson's UTF-16 -> UTF-8 conversion code.
