I'm beginning to envision something like

        require "some/obnoxiously/long/rexml/package/name" as XML
        # ...
        doc = XML::Document.new( source )

Who did this (import ... as ...) before?  Python?

Still, there'd better be a lot of shortcuts for using, and writing, 
packages; otherwise, as I've been whining about, it becomes a burden.
