 Apart from GUI apps this issue might, for instance, 
impair the implementation of async. Win32 I/O completion 
ports Ruby extension. Which would be a pity, since being 
able to create highly scalable backends in Ruby would be
a real joy. <5 minutes of daydreaming> Not to mention 
that it would remove quite a bit of pain from using the 
IO completion ports. <more daydreaming>
