That is a dead project as far as I know.  No active development or
community around it.

I got sucked into an editor switcheroo (from emacs to vim) a few weeks
ago.  I found that vim has some really really neat features (i.e. you
can write your macros in ruby!), but I am back to using emacs because I
couldn't get used to the mode switching.  I will probably give vim
another go one of these days, I just need to make sure I have enough
free time :-)

As for writing an editor from scratch, yeah, it may be a huge time
sink, but it would probably be a fun one!
