From: Andrew Hunt Date: 2001-12-03T23:43:06+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:27349] Windows Installer, the Next Generation Hi All, Sorry for the delay, but if you look on www.pragmaticprogrammer.com you'll find the latest Ruby Installer for Windows, version 165-2. This version has a couple of new features: * The SciTE editor is included, and features context-sensitive help tied into the HTML version of "Programming Ruby". * Right-click on a Ruby file and you can run it as well as edit it using the editor of your choice (defaults to SciTE if you choose to install it). * New installer technology: I've abandonded InstallShield in favor of the Nullsoft installer. This results in a much faster, 1MB smaller installer. My goal is to eventually set up a wizard that will let any developer produce a custom Ruby installer that installs their application and just enough of Ruby underneath to support it. This should make deploying applications on Windows much easier. * This will probably be the last installer based on Cygwin. I'm out of town this week, so if you have any problems or questions please e-mail me directly. Thanks! /\ndy -- Andrew Hunt, The Pragmatic Programmers, LLC.
