Which one are you guys talking about? Yep, that seems to be the case. All those non-threaded articles come from the mailgate. So, I believe this is what's going on: When writing usual mail, it's not *so* important to which article you are replying. Now, some M$ freak (Ralph) said to his colleague that his wife would expect him at home, and that references in mails are only useful for freaks, and that he lacked so many vacations... ok, said his friend (Russel), who was responsible for the correct threading, ill take care of this. So, Russel knew that all references would be broken, and hence built in a mechanism for threading articles according to their subjects, if necessary, thus not needing correct references. so, if you read and write everything with M$ look out, everything seems to be ok, but if u use a news reader like knode which relies on correct references, everything looks screwed up. and yes: there are *lots* more (provable) bugs in M$, just let me name one example: the sig delimiter is "-- \n". with a space before the \n well, when sending an article, OyE does some formatting with it, like it kills any appended spaces on a line. Usually thats a good thing, but it destroys the sig delimiter, which is turned into --\n result: when replying a mail the mail, the sig is copied again -- though: it actually is not a sig, cos a sig starts with -- \n. so the statement is: its impossible to write sigs with look out. another example is that it encourages TOFU (or whatever the english abbr for Text Above Fullquote Underneath is), via placing the cursor in the first line when replying a mail. this is straight against the netiquette. this group sure suffers from that, quite a pity, i think... regards, nick -- Absent, adj.: Exposed to the attacks of friends and acquaintances; defamed; slandered.
