Subject: [ruby-talk:27329] Opening a file with O_NONBLOCK

I need to open a file (a serial port) with the O_NONBLOCK flag.
I have the termios module, but the problem is that before I can use it I have 
to have an open file. And the system blocks when I try to open the port 
(probably defaults to hardware handshaking or something).
Rather than have to call stty or something before the open, is there an 
all-Ruby way to fix this?

The modes all seem to be alphabetic, and I can't find the O_RDWR and 
O_NONBLOCK constants I'd need otherwise.
