Subject: [ruby-talk:27323] ANN: REXML 1.1b

Hi all,

I'm sorry I haven't been responding to emails; I've been very busy lately, 
and the next week will probably be no better.

However, I have managed to bring REXML up to 1.1b.  This release completes 
XPath.  This isn't to say that XPath is without bugs, or that it always 
returns what it should, but I'm considering REXML's XPath to be 
feature-complete.  I've also maintained the 98.9% OASIS valid-documents 
test.  I'm looking into UTF-8 options, so REXML can pass those last 5 UTF-8 
tests and get 100%.

I'll be focusing on four things over the next week:

1) Clearing out my REXML-related email backlog
2) Getting REXML to support UTF-8 for reads (I don't promise anything here; 
I still think Ruby should support UTF-8 natively).
3) Fixing bugs in XPath (I know of a couple)
4) Bringing the REXML documentation up to date

When I complete 1, 3, and 4 (and optionally 2), I'll release REXML 1.2. 
Start looking for this about Thursday.
