.... which is what I want to do in my modified FLTK Editor done in Ruby
that'll run on my Agenda VR3 PDA... So, I was wondering if there is some
neat way to do this? 

I know I can eval it, but I was thinking about the problems with clean
context (running same code multiple times yields various results due to
previous invocation changing context), and such? There was some thread
about getting bitten by this in RubyWin.
