Actually, I think Debian is using 1.8.5 currently on the stable version.
At least, that's what's on the Etch system I have in the corner, waiting
for me to copy a few files off it, wipe it, and turn it into some kind of
FreeBSD-based network appliance.

Sarge, on the other hand, is using 1.8.2.  Of course, that's not even the
current Stable release, and is in legacy support right now.

I'm not sure what Lenny, the current Testing release, is using.  I
haven't touched Lenny yet, since FreeBSD is my primary OS choice these
days.
