Its objective is to enable UNIX developers to build and deploy cross-platform .NET Applications. The project implements various technologies developed by Microsoft that have now been submitted to the ECMA for standardization. Mono is also available for windows, Mac OS X, Sun Solaris, BSD - OpenBSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD I've minimal experience with mono ( recently threw together a console app to communicate with PostgreSQL ) ( the resultant app is executable on both linux and windows ). I've played around with the IDE's Monodevelop on linux and sharpdevelop on windows.
