Having had a look, I'm not sure whether these patches are likely to
help me.

At the point where my hang occurs, I have the main thread doing an
accept, waiting for any new connections and one thread doing a write
to one socket.

However, so far as I know, I have no select going on, hence I would not
expect to be in a state where the problems the patches fix would affect
me.

Or am I missing something?  Ie, could there be a select going on that I'm
not thinking of?

I guess I'll try the patches anyway, just in case.  My biggest problem is
that I can't make it happen myself, which makes testing a pain.

It happens consistently to a couple of other people connecting across the
internet, but it never happens locally on my LAN !!
