From: Jim Menard Date: 2001-11-27T23:48:45+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:26664] OASIS test change suggestion I would like to suggest a change in the OASIS test script. Instead of sending a String containing XML to each parser, please send a File object. This way, the parser can follow external references to other files. If you slurp the XML into the string and feed NQXML the string, it has no way of knowing where the file resides and it can't follow the external reference. For example, the input file ]>... refers to the file "other.xml" in the same directory as the original file. If an XML parser is passed a file, it can query the file to find the directory. If the parser is passed a string, it has no way of knowing where to find "other.xml". This change will let NQXML boost its Maki number considerably, once I finish debugging the external entity-reading code :-) Jim -- Jim Menard, jimm@io.com, http://www.io.com/~jimm/ "333: Eric the Half A Beast" -- Tim Allen in rec.humor.oracle.d
