I'd read Andy and Dave's first book, so I figured if they thought Ruby was worth looking at then it probably was ... and I was right! Apart from reading the book, I spent a fair bit of time just reading some of the source code for the various library classes and following the discussions on this newsgroup ... there are some very clever people on here, including matz (the language's creator). I'd definitely recommend getting a hard copy of the book if you can afford it, since it's easier to carry around and read. Alternatively, you could just print chapters out from the HTML version as you have spare time to read them. You'll find that once you start playing, it will be very easy to get into the language. It really is designed that way. Anyhow, welcome aboard and enjoy !!
