Subject: [ruby-talk:26262] help with Ruby / Ant Problem

As part of my app for building the HTML for my web site (which is
mostly XSLT), I want to run a Ruby program to translate any *.txt
files to *.xml. 

My problem has two aspects: best way to set up the Ruby program, and
best way to invoke it from Ant. I'd like to set up an Ant target that
would invoke the program once per out of date txt file, passing the
fle name(s) as args. I'd like Ant to do the date checking if possible,
and haven't figured out how to make it do that with Ruby, which seems
to need to run using the <command> tag.

I could possibly do all the file finding and naming in the Ruby
program, but that seems wrong, doesn't it?

Right now I have the Ruby program written to accept an input file name
in the args, and to write to stdout. So I'd like to invoke it like

  ruby XmlTranslator.rb foo.txt >foo.xml

But of course I could change it to accept both file names in the args,
or whatever we need.

Advice, please? Web pointers? Whatever ...
