So, out of curiosity is there some alternate way one might be able to:

  super.someOtherMethodThanTheOneImInRightNow(x)  ?


...I haven't run across a need for this yet in Ruby, admittedly, but
have some sense of having needed it in Java/Swing. . . :-/
