Some people have strange ideas of what bad code is... I've seen the 
following (or something along these lines) criticised for lack of clarity:

  if (matched = (@mystr[@currentpos, -1][/<!DOCTYPE/]))
    # do something with matched

Is that bad code? I wouldn't say so, but some manager-types think 
otherwise. Sure, if you've never used Ruby it could look strange, but if 
you're not a Ruby programmer then you shouldn't be messing with Ruby code.

Heck, some people say that anything using regexes is bad, because it ain't 
readable. I guess that's just COBOL syndrome...
