For me worked like that:

tt = Time.parse(da.join(" "))
day = tt.strtime("%d")
month = tt.strftime("%m")
year = tt.strftime("%y")

print "\nday #{day}"\
      "\nmonth #{month}"
      "\nyear #{year}"\
      "\n"
