Subject: [ruby-talk:25462] Perl modules from ruby?

I am writing small programs to extract certain information from web 
pages and then perform certain manipulations on the extracted 
information. I have already written the programs in Perl (which I 
recently learned) making heavy use of HTML::TableExtract, 
HTML::TreeBuilder and other modules.  

Whether due to my own ignorance or the design of Perl, I found 
that writing these programs to be somewhat more error prone than 
I had expected.  I noticed Ruby and suspect it might be somewhat 
easier to write correct programs but could not find anything that 
measures up to the convenience of the Perl modules (including 
those listed above and others).

My question is this: is it possible to call Perl modules from 
Ruby?
