Usually, when this happens with gcc, it means that you either have a hardware problem or a poorly-configured system. I cannot give you a single checklist for tracking down the problem, but check out the sig11 FAQ at: http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11/ which has a number of possibilities you can consider. (On a side note, the first time I had this problem, it was because I did not have swap enabled). Paul
