Alas, I ended up back in Java. Ruby just wasn't there (yet) for the XML processing, I needed a port of XMLDBMS (or something similar) and we had other parts of the project constrained to JSP; there wasn't sufficient force to the Ruby argument to justify mixed-language programming.
