I was just asked yesterday to make a local mirror of specification
documents that are on my companies intranet.
Having never used Net::HTTP, I was able to write less than 10
lines of code to pull all the documents down. Our administrator
had sat on this request for 3 months, not knowing exactly
how to execute the task. I'm sure that other languages have
this capability, but with Ruby it was VERY accessible.
