Call me peevy, and this does bring up another language's weakness, but
it is one of the reasons I moved to ruby:

I like reading code that doesn't consist of lots of:
$
%
@ (well okay @'s are nice ;-0 )
;
->{
self = shift
@_
$$@
etc...

The 2 main reasons I try to use ruby where ever I can are:

the ruby community
the code fits my brain

in that order.
