I thought about writing a class that was a wrapper for the sys/statfs.h
header file (I think that's the name - might have it wrong), using Ruby's C
API.  That would avoid doing "system" calls, but has the drawback that it
would make it *nix-only.

Unfortunately, my Ruby knowledge is nowhere near good enough to start doing
this.  Looks like a future project for myself. :)
