An underscore in Ruby gets ignored; it's useful for separating digits:

  x =  123_456_789

It doesn't make sense to have an underscore in the one's place, imo:

  x = 123_

I think the pointer is after the underscore because that's the point at
which Ruby realizes it has reached the end of the number.
