Well, factor two between slowest and fastest.  Not dramatic but may be 
noticeable when dealing with large quantities of objects.

But I also (?) have this "premature optimization" feeling about this 
thread.  And we don't have seen real memory measurements yet which 
seemed to have been the root concern...
