Well, to be clear you should always be requiring 'thread' too.  So the
very best practice with fastthread is this:

        require 'thread'
        begin
          require 'fastthread'
        rescue LoadError
        end
       =20
i.e. simply add an optional fastthread require wherever you require
thread.
