From: Tony Smith Date: 2001-11-06T00:54:17+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:24399] Extension building problems I've written a Ruby extension for our SCM product Perforce, and I'm trying to package it up correctly with a suitable extconf.rb script as described in the pickaxe book. First question: The extension's in two parts, a pure Ruby component (P4.rb) and a C++ component (P4api.so). Can I persuade mkmf to generate a makefile with a "make install" target that will install both components? Second question: How can I persuade mkmf and nmake to talk nicely to one another on Windows? I've built my extension by hand, but obviously that's not ideal, so I'm hoping there are some tricks to getting more portable makefiles built. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks! Tony
