Apparently, the weirdness was caused because the filename passed to
File.exists had a \n at the end of it. Chomping that seems to have fixed it
-- nothing to do with drb.

I guess my email decided it needed the weekend off. I've no idea where it
went between being sent Friday and arriving at the list Sunday night. I just
hope it had fun.
