you can debug with a debugger which is not visual ruby has one such.  I
takes no more than an hour
or so getting used to it but its almost as nice (stretch the almost) as a
visual
debugger.  Although adding traces can be usefull to get an idea of the bug,
when
you know the general area then nothing beats a debugger.
