I'm working on a Win32 extensions project for Ruby - I do not have MSVC++ and since this is a home project, I really don't want to shell out the cash for it when gcc is working fine for me. And yes, Ruby is the ONLY Win project I work with. I primarily use Linux. The Ruby Win32 extension project grew out of some extensions I made for work. It seems that there is a way to allow either MinGW or VC++ to be used as in Python - somebody else posted the link in this thread. That may give us the best of both worlds. Phil
